I really loved that she finally went on an adventure and started living boldly. I love that she got a chance to reunite with Nathan, even if they weren’t as close as they were when they were working for the Traynors. It’s not that I dislike her, because I quite liked reading about her New York adventures, I just disliked how she regards herself. I mean, she was great and charming in “Me Before You,” but she has gotten progressively worse as a heroine with every additional book. While it was a struggle reading this book, the struggle was mainly due to the fact that I was completely over Louisa Clark. However, the “Still Me” Lou Clark seems to think she only has worth if she has a significant other. She wasn’t even wearing the spunky clothes that the “original” Lou Clark was known to wear. The “After You” Louisa Clark was stuck in her grief and not really living – just coasting along in life. Sure, it was adventures she could take with Will, but she was still willing to try new things. The “Me Before You” Louisa Clark was all about Will, but also full of determination and quirk and adventure. Yes, it’s great that Lou is finally having that adventure and living life like she promised Will, but the way she’s portrayed in “Still Me” seriously bothered me. However, if I thought “After You” was unnecessary, then “Still Me” just shouldn’t have been written.

I didn’t love “After You,” but I thought it was wholly unnecessary. Honestly, it was such a struggle to read this book. Soon, she has trouble trying to remember who the real Lou Clark is – is she the girl who loves her new life in NYC, or is she the girl whose new love and family are still at home in the United Kingdom? She gets thrown into the world of New York society and learns to love her new life, but also still wants to keep her ties to her original life in England, and finds that she has trouble doing so. Lou becomes the personal assistant to Agnes Gopnik, the second (and younger) wife of Mr. “Still Me” starts right where “After You” left off, with Louisa Clark deciding to be in a long-distance relationship with her new beau, Ambulance Sam, and setting off to NYC to reunite with Nathan and a new job/adventure. Side note: It’s so annoying when your featured images of the books don’t match because the “Still Me” cover hasn’t been created yet. I should probably watch the movie soon as well. So when I heard that there would be a third book in the “Me Before You” series, I knew I was eventually going to reread the books… and eventually turned into this month.

I personally cannot leave a series unfinished – it just drives me insane. “Still Me” was the entire reason I decided to reread the “Me Before You” series.
